Under The Weather

This photo shows what it's like to live in the Hampton Roads area these days. We've had smoke hanging in the air for the past few weeks, as a fire's been burning from North Carolina into our area of Virginia. They predict it will be with us for a few more weeks!

This is an inconvenience...and a health hazard...though not so devastating as what some parts of the country are experiencing.

Anything unusual going on in your area?

oh man, bummer.

Well there WAS flooding here. It wasn't so bad here though. More south of us, and they're still having problems. Now it's just hot and humid. But hey, we only have to deal with that humidty for another 3 weeks!

Hmmm...there has been alot of rejoicing in New Jersey about the Supreme Court's decision about personal ownership of handguns, etc. Who would have thought?

Could be worse, could be 1923, when a Great Dismal Swamp fire burned for 3 years before it went out. Problem is the fire can go underground into the peat & resurface miles and days away. They called it "The Great Conflagration."

Wow, Sharon Powell brings up the Great Dismal Fire of 1923. Amazing.

Sharon, did you remember that because of a song you taught your kids growing up?

Ken,
Have to give our most internet savvy NCPC staff member some competition on the blogging. ;-) Actually, a couple of weeks ago, Noelle got me started on Facebook. We just started a NCPC group there. You can see part if it (even if you aren't a member) at link below.
